2025-26 school Year

Our 2025-26 school year forest program will run from Aug 25, 2025- June 5, 2026. Our program is available for children 3 – 6 years old, who are potty-independent and comfortable being outdoors. We will offer our nature-based program Monday- Friday, with a half day option from 8:30-12:05, or a full day option from 8:30-4:05. Schedule options include: 2, 3, or 5 days a week.

In the Pines is looking to acquire our own property, so we can expand our program. As of now our location is TBD (We will most likely be in Kamas). We hope to know our exact location within the next few weeks or so. We will send out an email as we have more information on our location. Although our program will still be primarily outdoors, our property will have an indoor space to be used at our disposal.

We plan to protect this land and build our infrastructure sustainably with minimal impact and to keep the integrity of the land in place. We are excited to implement and begin facilitating the following, throughout the next couple of years:

Forest School

·       Outdoor preschool program offering half and full day options, year-round.

·       Spring and fall preschool programs.

·       A yurt space to use as our indoor classroom.

Farm

·       Vegetable and flower beds, to teach children about gardening, the plant life cycle and to feed them healthy foods that they have helped to grow.

·       Composting area, which will help us to be more sustainable and allow children to learn about the importance of composting and soil health.

·       Beehives and a chicken coop, to provide fresh honey and eggs and opportunities for the children to practice responsibility and nurturance.

 Community Event Space

·       Space to hold community gatherings including: farm to table dinners, seasonal celebrations, forest school family events and a farm stand.

·       Area for adult education and workshops including: gardening, tea making, flower arrangements, arts and crafts, honey harvesting, yoga and music.

Camps

·       Nature-based youth camps for children of all ages, during holiday breaks and summer.

We are an emergent program, which means that we base our projects and lessons on the arising interests of the children, as well as the changes in the seasons and in nature. In addition to our daily circle time, which consists of: good morning songs, calendar, weather, and story time, we will also be bringing in art, music, and prompts based on their current interests. This is in addition to the free play that is scheduled every day. Free play is a very important time for children to learn how to take healthy risks, explore, socialize and use their imaginations. We believe this is the most important part of their day.

"Children learn as they play. Most importantly, in play children learn how to learn." -Fred Donaldson

learn and explore in Nature

Time in nature is not leisure time; it’s an essentail investment in our children’s health (and also, by the way, in our own).
